Riverside County Sheriff's Rural Crime Team

The mission of the Riverside County Sheriff's Office Rural Crime Team (RCT) is to investigate and develop solutions to unique law enforcement issues which affect Riverside County's agricultural community and citizens in the rural areas of Riverside County. The agricultural community members include farmers, agri-businesses, ranchers, mining, and related fields.

The team is part of the California Rural Crime Task Force, which is comprised of sworn and non-sworn agricultural crime investigators throughout the state of California. RCT accomplishes its mission by partnering with our local agricultural community and citizens in rural areas to build stronger alliances, to improve criminal reporting and crime prevention. RCT actively and relentlessly investigates, pursues, and prosecutes suspects of crimes against our agricultural community to its fullest extent.

Get Back Stolen Property – Apply for an OAN!

With agricultural theft on the rise, protecting valuable equipment is more important than ever. The Riverside County Sheriff's Rural Crime Team is urging farmers and ranchers to safeguard their assets by marking machinery and tools with an Owner Applied Number (OAN)—a simple yet effective measure to aid in the recovery of stolen property.

What is an OAN? An Owner Applied Number (OAN) is a unique 10-digit identifier assigned to agricultural businesses. This number is stored in a STATEWIDE DATABASE and helps law enforcement identify and return stolen property, ensuring that essential equipment remains where it belongs.

Why Should You Get an OAN? Identification & Recovery: Marked equipment is easier to trace and recover if stolen.

  • Deters Theft: Visible identification discourages thieves from targeting marked property.
  • Community Support: The OAN program is backed by organizations such as the California Rural Crime Prevention Task Force and the California Highway Patrol.

A Free and Easy Solution - The Sheriff's Rural Crime Team offers OAN assignment and stamping at no cost. By taking advantage of this free program, agricultural businesses can significantly reduce their risk of theft and improve the chances of recovering stolen items.

How to Apply for an OAN - Farmers and agricultural business owners can contact the Riverside County Sheriff's Rural Crime Team to register and receive their OAN. Once assigned, the number is stamped onto valuable equipment, making it easily identifiable in case of theft.

Don’t wait until it’s too late—protect your property now. Contact the Riverside County Sheriff's Rural Crime Team to apply for your Owner Applied Number (OAN) and secure your equipment for the future.

Riverside County Sheriff's Office Launches
 Agricultural Pass Program

The Riverside County Sheriff's Office is pleased to announce the launch of the county’s Agricultural Pass (Ag Pass) Program, designed to support and protect our local agricultural community in times of disaster.

This countywide initiative provides identification documents granting access to qualifying agricultural and livestock producers, equestrian partners, and their managerial employees. The Ag Pass ensures that these essential individuals can reach their farms, ranches, or livestock facilities during or following disasters such as floods, storms, fires, and earthquakes. The program is in accordance with California Assembly Bill 1141 (AB 1141), which outlines specific qualifications for eligibility.
